Making sure you eat breakfast before you head out the door is hard regardless of your situation. I mean how many options are there for a grab and go breakfast? If you have to get the kids up and to daycare so you can go to work. If you don’t have any kids or still have to go to work. Making sure you eat a breakfast is a struggle for everyone. I’m a stay at home mom and it’s hard to find time to eat in between getting the kids up and fed and keeping them happy. The worst day is on Sunday’s when I have to get the kids and myself ready and out the door on time. Having a grab and go breakfast is a must. Obviously having a pastor as husband means that I’m doing it by myself. And now everyone know that it’s actually healthier for you to eat right when you wake up instead of skipping breakfast. When I do get breakfast, it’s usually something super unhealthy that’s easy to grab as I head out the door.
I actually have been concerned that my husband wasn’t ever eating breakfast. He gets up several mornings every week at 5 am to play basketball, so he definitely needs to eat something for breakfast. I ended up making him a bunch of egg sandwiches for the freezer that he can grab and go on his busy mornings. Now that’s great for him, but I find a huge breakfast sandwich (I make them on a huge bagel) is a little too much for me. It’s also not very easy for my one and two year old to eat, so those aren’t going to work for us. My husband loves them, though, so at least they work for him.
I have also been more and more concerned with the type of food that my children are putting in their bodies. When they are little, they pretty much eat fruits and vegetable. My babies didn’t really have any foods that they didn’t like, so it was easy for them to eat healthy and nutritious foods. But now that they are one and two, it’s like they don’t want to eat anything I give them. Especially the two year old. He will eat two apples a day for a week and as soon as I buy more apples, he suddenly hates them. I’m hoping it’s just a phase he’s going through, because I’m not sure what to do!
