When you become a mom, it’s easy to put your wants and needs last. You now have a helpless baby depending on you, so their needs are more important than yours! Most of the moms I know forget that you still need time to yourself to recharge. It’s funny how it’s so easy to buy that shirt for your child, but pass right by those devotionals for you.

Well, I’m here to tell you — that stops now! You can’t keep emptying yourself, and expect to still have more to give. I believe one of the best ways to recharge is by doing daily devotions. I know it’s hard to make time when it seems that your schedule is already being pushed to the limit. That’s why I have put together a list of amazing devotionals that only take 5-10 minutes!

1. Out of the Spin Cycle: Devotions to Lighten Your Mother Load by Jen Hatmaker

This is the devotional I am currently doing and I love it! The way Jen Hatmaker writes this makes you feel like she’s talking directly to you. There are 40 devotionals in this book, and every single one seems like just a story, but ends up being so much more. There are bible verses and a practical application included with every devotion. I loved it so much I even wrote this blog post about one of them!

2. Devotions, Advice & Renewal for Motherhood Feels Too Hard: Devotions, Advice & Renewal for Weary Moms by Kelly Crawford

devotional when motherhood feels too hard

When Motherhood Feels Too Hard is a refuge, a retreat, a place to be recharged and better fit for the battle. Motherhood is hard. That’s a fact. It’s labor-intensive, requiring the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of women who know much of their labor will not receive earthly accolades. From a Christian perspective, these daily devotions could change your life. It is a book you will want to read over and over, written in small snippets for daily renewal. It is refreshing, inspiring and even offers practical “survival tips” for the overwhelmed mom.
